SAMUDRAM has taken several initiatives towards setting milestones for commercial success as well as social responsibility. It has been successfully functioning as a profit-making organization that believes in giving something back to the society and continues to affect the lives of people associated with it in some way or the other. Below mentioned are some of the achievements of the company in this regard.

• Better price to fishermen due to fair practices adopted like correct weighing & fair price that compelled other traders to follow the same due to competition
• Brought all primary producers together under its umbrella
• Formed linkages and negotiations with wholesalers and traders (exporters) in Calcutta, New Delhi, Chennai and Bhubaneshwar
• Improved quality by introducing use of ice right from the catch to sale
• Introduced weighing equipment instead of auctioning with eye estimation
• Defined and established a system of payment with a definite time gaps
• Formed linkages with academic institutions to update their skill set for producing value added products
• Organized interface between producers and traders
• Established five procurement and processing centers to collect fresh fish and value added fish products
• Constructed low cost ice stores and procured deep freezers to preserve 4.8 MTs of fresh fish and prawn for up to 30 days
• Brought together 864 FRP boats and catamaran that are now trading through SAMUDRAM and not under any contract or bondage with a trader. They are being supported by Local and State Govt. machinery in publicizing and selling their products for different occasions
• Established linkage with different national and international organizations to get their support to realize its objectives
